Right next to Rock Creek terminus at the Potomac, Thompson Boat Center is better known for hosting rowing teams. Paddling availability is sometimes limited by competitions.
Much like the upriver Key Bridge Boathouse, Thomspon has views Georgetown, Theodore Roosevelt Island, Three Sisters Islands, Watergate, the Kennedy Center, Rosslyn, bridges and uprive. It’s also closer to Foggy Bottom Metro. There is a small parking lot adjacent to the boat house as well. It is closer to Washington Harbor than Key Bridge if you are looking for a bite of refreshment.
