Lerners, MLB Finish Details of Nats Deal – The Post
Being Washington, not everyone is happy with the seemingly imminent announcement in favor of the Lerner bid, even though that group is probably best prepared to run a franchise. The ever-present issue of race is creating a lot of commotion in the Wilson Building since it only became known last week that the Lerner group added black investors. Additionally, the Lerners have not made any contact with District, which has upset the politicans, although MLB had asked them to take that approach. In short, the Lerners have been found guilty in the court of public opinion without a trial. Apparently, the Lerners would have remained in the council’s good graces if they had helped a federal agency purge Jewish employees or barbecued a dog.
Additoinally, the Council passed emergency legislation that requires all D.C. cable companies to carry MASN, which plays into the hands of Peter Angelo$. I am very dissapointed in the council for doing his dirty work, but you already knew that, didn’t you?
By the way, that MLB has been so politically tone-deaf throughout the process is a national disgrace.

Incoming president Stan Kasten gets more copy than Lerner. You cannot ask for a much better baseball résumé than his.
Council wants Comcast meeting – The Wash. Times
More on the council’s attempts to legislate the Nats (MASN) onto Comcast in D.C. They want to the two sides to meet and work something out — or else! That is fine, but they should not punish Comcast (which it pains me to say) if they will not (because they can’t) punish Angelo$.
MissChatter live-blogged their session yesterday as well as the Barry-Orange resolution on ownership. That motion failed.

Rookie Gives Nats A Lift – The Post
Former GW Colonial Mike O’Connor picked up his first major league win at Shea last night with seven innings of work. The final was 6-2 Washington. He pitches on Sunday before the home crowd for the first time. I am looking forward to it, since I will finally get back to RFK again.
Marlon Byrd continued to hit well and scored three runs yesterday. Alfonso Soriano and Damian Jackson homered too.

Majewski gets demotion – The Wash. Times
The overused Gary Majewski will get a chance to work out his troubles earlier in games now. Frank Robinson has promoted Mike Stanton to set up man. Interestingly enough, The Post is not as certain about Majewski’s demotion. Also, they won last night without the Joses, both Guillen and Vidro sat out.
