The Penn State Nittany Lions head into Columbus un-ranked for an afternoon game with the Ohio State Buckeyes tomorrow. The Nittany Lions have won 3 in a row, including Joe Paterno’s 400 win. QB Matt McGloin has seemingly been the catalyst and has feasted on weaker Big Ten defenses. That changes tomorrow though, because the Buckeyes are no pushovers. Cam Heyward is a scary defensive lineman who had something like a dozen tackles against Penn State last year. That was in Happy Valley against a better Penn State team too. He alone scares me about this game. I don’t think Penn State’s offensive line can stand up to Ohio State’s defensive line. Penn State’s defense, while improved, feasted on 1 dimensional teams the last two weeks. While Terrelle Pryor, Ohio State’s quarterback, isn’t the sharpest player in the game and plays in a system that does not utilize him well, he is a 3 year starter. I think the best thing Penn State can do is make Pryor beat them with his arm, but I don’t know that they are strong enough to dictate terms.
As much as I would like to rationalize a way Penn State can win this one, I just can’t do it.
