For Expos, Next Year Starts Now – The Post
Currently, D.C. baseball has two employees working out of the Washington Hilton. There is much to be done on all fronts and it will probably be very tight. The first ballpark vote could come up on November 9, but I think that is too early given that so many people who work in the District building are in the Far East right now. All in all, the D.C. government is not handling this well at all. I still think the team will ultimately be here, but it will be ugly getting to opening day. Ryan Moore at Distinguished Senators is more optimistic and seemingly carefree about the whole process; a nice counterpoint to my more skeptical view of things I suppose.

In many, if not most, places, replacing strip clubs and porn shops (straight or gay) with a ballpark would be seen as civic improvement. However, regardless of what is there now the District should come to a fair agreement with all the land owners in SE that would be displaced by the economic engine that is a new ballpark.
