Baseball cap has endured generations as the all-American hat – USA Today
Among the things we learn in this article about baseball caps — Spike Lee is responsible for official baseball caps with incorrect colors (i.e. red Yankees cap) and that the Dali Lama is a Nationals fan or at least has worn their cap.
Last year I took a look at expansion era ballcaps.

Of the cities with teams in the traditonal 4 major sports, Washington is in second to last place, just ahead of Atlanta, despite having two teams (Redskins and Les Boulez) in the playoffs this calendar year. Last time I checked, that is one more than Philly and Phoenix, both of which were ahead of Washington.
