Friday night, I listened to most of the game. John Lannan pitched really well on both ends of a rain delay. He put up 7 2/3 shut out innings. Then, in the ninth, while I was getting my son ready for bed, Drew Storen‘s first pitch was hit out of the park by . I learned of this between innings, sat down to watch the bottom of the ninth. I saw one pitch, the one Michael Morse sent to the left field bullpen. DC 2 SD 1.
Saturday, a party for the aforementioned son took precedence over the game. I did turn the radio on for a moment, right about the time Laynce Nix’s bat hit a baseball into the stands. Sorry, I didn’t get back to the game in time for another walk-off. SD 2 DC 1
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Sunday, I went to the game, my third of the season. Things started off well with 2 first inning runs, but the Friars came back on Yunesky Maya, who faltered because it was too hot. By the way, Maya is a defected Cuban. The Nats fell behind 4-2, tied it up, but in the ninth Drew Storen faltered and the Padres pulled ahead. On the plus side, my half-smoke was excellent and going to a ballgame with your dad is a pretty good way to spend a Sunday. SD 5 DC 4
Yesterday, Teddy didn’t win, despite strong rumors after Jayson Werth’s complaints, and neither did the Nats. Four runs (3 solo homers) against Roy Halladay were not enough as the bullpen faltered again and the Nats lost yet another one run game. Hopefully, all those Phillies fans had long bus rides back to the Delaware Valley. PHI 5 DC 4.
