Parking solutions being proposed

Fenty Promotes Aboveground Parking To End Fight Over New D.C. StadiumThe Post
The next mayor, Adrian Fenty, has come up with a parking plan using input from CFO Natwar Ghandi that puts garages on the other side of the stadium development. Good thinking it would seem, the devil will be in the details of course. The Lerner family has been receptive to it.

Also, The Wash. Times reports that Mayor Anthony Williams is proposing emergency legistlation that “would permit the city to sell revenue bonds to help pay for the construction of parking structures on the ballpark site, and would also allow the city to use money from the sale of development rights for the same purpose. The mayor’s bill also allows D.C. Chief Financial Officer Natwar Gandhi to collect money from adjacent parking facilities, with the money raised going to pay for parking garages and commercial development at the actual ballpark site.”

Ward 8 councilman Mayor Marion Shepilov Barry is also making a proposal to transfer of parking responsibilities to the Anacostia Waterfront Commision.
