It could be November before the Natoinals have a new manager because they said to be interested in a couple of coaches (Manny Acta and Jerry Manuel and Jose Oquendo) whose teams are still in the playoffs. Additionally, the commisioner discourages teams from “making news” during the World Series so the focus can be on the games.

Other candidates include Oakland coach Ron Washington, former Oakland manager Ken Macha and of course, Joe Girardi.

The city council was unable to pass legislation that would have solved the parking dilema at the new ballpark. Maybe they’ll have better luck next week.

Beasley may return in ’07Altoona Mirror
Nats 3B coach Tony Beasley has an offer to be a minor league roving infield coordinator for the Pirates organization. He previously managed AA Altoona in that organization.

Unrelated note: It looks like the Altoona Mirror finally has a functional Web site. They had been a holdout for a decade.
