Press conference for new manager gives Bowden opportunity to remind us he’s a doofus

Yesterday, Manny Acta was named manager of the Washington Nationals (The Post). D.C. Sports Bog was there and noted that GM Jim Bowden used the occasion to try and act cool – “time to Acta-vate.” He failed. Again. The Bog also talked to Kasten, got some initial quotes and noted the downtown location (a Lerner office building) of the presser was right next to a post office. The Wash Times was there too. Rick Snider of The Wash. Examiner was impressed. Thomas Boswell added his two cents as well.

Alphonso Alfonso Soriano, who is being courted by the Cubs (Chicago Sun-Times, thanks dl004d) to play centerfield and will meet with the Fleas today, was the first to call Acta (The Wash. Times).

In other Nats news, there will be parking garages at the ballpark, go to jdland.com for more. 3B Ryan Zimmerman wants to buy a house inside the Beltway and Baseball on the Barn may not come back. : (
