Johnson and O’Connor may not be ready for Opening Day

Nats’ Johnson May Miss First MonthThe Post
1B Nick Johnson, who broke his right leg in a collision with RF Austin Kearns, is still limping and may miss the first month of the season. Larry Broadway and Robert Fick would likely take over at first while Johnson continues to recover.

P Mike O’Connor has not thrown since elbow surgery in November and could also miss time. The team is more optmistic about John Patterson’s elbow, but will still have to wait-n-see when spring training rolls around.

Also, free agent pitcher Tomo Ohka is still available and the Nats are still talking to his agent.

The Red Sox still want Chad Cordero, but are so far unwilling to trade a top pitching prospect for him. Banks of Anacostia is all over the story.
