After rushing to put new primary state route numbers for the Franconia-Springfield and Prince William Parkways (and then taking them off for a while) Google Maps has finally gotten around to posting the new Route 286 marker for the Fairfax County Parkway.
This probably precedes any actual Route 286 markers on the Fairfax County Parkway, so it may be a bit confusing since secondary route 7100 is still posted. In the past, Google Maps has shown the old and new numbers. Still, it is a bit of a milestone as the roads get “promoted” with 3 digit primary numbers.
