The Washington Capitals were 6.6 seconds away from stealing Game 5 in Madison Square Garden, but the New York Rangers scored on a 6-4 power play caused by Joel Ward’s double minor penalty. The Rangers finished the Caps off in overtime. Ward goes from the hero of game 7 in the first round to the goat of game 5 in the second round, but the loss was a team effort.Washington could have put the game away in the third, but could not convert breakaways.
Game 6 is at Verizon Center tomorrow night. The Caps now have to win two consecutive games for the first time in the playoffs to survive.
