It turns out owning a baseball team/remembering your family members names is hard work

Nats Proceed With CautionThe Post
I don’t know about you, but when I am sitting in RFK this May watching the Nats fall behind 6-0 in the top of the second I am going to be thinking to myself, “good thing Ted Lerner is bravely holding the line on spending.”

Generally, I’m a Plan guy, but a couple of pitchers added to the rotation, even at the crazy 2007 prices, would at least give us the opportunity to see a competitive team more than 20% of the time. That is apparently too much to ask right now. It would be like expecting Lerner to remember which kid is which (The Wash. Examiner; fourth item).

OF Escobar, Nationals agree to $530,000 for 1 yearThe Wash. Examiner
OF Alex Escobar has avoided arbitration. Pitchers Chad Cordero and John Paterson, along with RF Austin Kearns are the only eligible player remaining.

Stadium Cost Tops Cap, Council Members SayThe Post
The cost of road improvements in the ballpark area would exceed the $611 million spending cap for the ballpark. JDLand tells us to get ready for “another round of DC Council Ballpark Kabuki Theater, with anti-stadium forces yammering about the cap being exceeded while pro-stadium forces contending that this doesn’t violate the cap. Perhaps they’d prefer to spend Opening Day digging tour buses out of monster potholes on an un-upgraded South Capitol Street.” I’ll probably ignore it.

ESPN Hires Frank Robinson As an AnalystThe Post
Frank Robinson has a new job, working for ESPN in the old Jim Bowden slot (hat tip to Capitol Punishment).

BTW, Just a Nats Fan has another video up. DC Sports Bog Manny Acta has a new jacket too. Very weird.

Nats clamor for new minor-league digsThe Free Lance-Star
That should really say “P-Nats clamor for new minor-league digs.”

The owner of the Potomac Nationals was stumping for a new ballpark at a Hot Stove Banquet (JANF has more). What I don’t get is why it would be built next to the current one which is about 8 miles and 42 traffic lights away from I-95.
