Who’s on first?

With 1B Nick Johnson out until June, Larry Broadway will finally get the opportunity to prove he is more than an AAAA player (The Free Lance-Star). However, he may have Dimitri Young to contend with for the spot. Young is GM Jim Bowden’s latest reclamation project (The Wash. Times & The Free Lance-Star) — he just likes having guys who beat up women on the team. Young also went to rehab for alcohol and has type II diabetes.

C Brian Schneider has been pouring over rosters trying to figure out “the guys who might make the team. I can’t spend time with everybody.” (The Post). Tim Redding (12-10 3.40 ERA with AAA Charlotte in 2006) hopes to be one of those guys (Florida Today).

Assistant to the GM, Barry Larkin has been busy this spring (The Post), working with 3B Ryan Zimmerman on footwork and Felipe Lopez on moving to second base.

Single game tickets go on sale (The Wash. Times) Saturday morning. There are several premium (nationals.com) games this season.

Also, Chad Cordero is in arbitration today.

NATMOSPHERE POST OF THE DAY: Nats320 arrived in Viera on Sunday and already has three spring training posts up.
