WASHINGTON, D.C. — A day after Bryce Harper lost a ball in the sun, prompting him to note that the Sun Monster was out, the Washington Nationals capitalized on a similar gaffe.
In the fourth, Jayson Werth doubled when Brewers CF Carlos Gomez lost the ball to the “Sun Monster.” The really opened up the flood gates and rattled Marco Estrada. Harper walked and with a 4-1 lead, I started cheering/tweeting “We Want Wings;”

Zimmerman obliged and homered. I’m looking forward to getting my free Hard Times wings sometime this week.
Jordan Zimmerman pitched really well, 7 strikeouts over 6 2/3 innings, his only run being a Corey Hart homer on the first pitch of the second inning. He was also had two hits and a RBI, raising his average to .200.
The Nats pounded the Brewers for 12 runs in total, splitting the series and getting on the good side of Sun Monster.
Nats – 8, Brewers – 2, ME – 4

One note of concern — Tyler Clippard pitching in the 8th gave up a run. He’s just not getting it done right now after a strong season as closer. Drew Storen pitched the 9th, which he’ll be doing more of going forward, to get some
work.
THE SCENE
Yesterday was $1 ticket Monday. The service fees for the online promotion were $6.25 greater than the cost of the two tickets I got for myself and my dad. Spending a September afternoon with your dad at a ballgame is wonderful.
There were $1 hot dogs too. I had two. A half-smoke too with a Samuel Adams Octoberfest. Not the best pairing, but are good, but not together.
I bicycled from Alexandria to the game. Cycling really is the best way to get to Nationals Park.
I didn’t want to tweet this at the game because I was afraid I would jinx it but kudos to the fans today for NOT doing the wave…

Good times.
Harper didn’t wear the “high stirrups” though 🙁
