The Nats dropped a 12-7 decision (Florida Today) to the Dodgers yesterday. Fundamentals like “crisp play in the field, productive at-bats, smart baserunning” were lacking (The Wash. Times). At least Ryan Zimmerman homered. Starter Shawn Hill gave up 2 unearned runs over two innings. Reliever had the roughest outing (The Post), giving up 4 runs in 2/3 inning. Just A Nats Fan live-blogged the game. ESPN Boxscore.
Frank Robinson has been rehired by MLB (The Wash. Times) as a special advisor to the baseball operations VP which sounds soooo meaningful. Nats GM Jim Bowden is on the record as being pleased Robinson got a job and again extended the invitation for Frank Robinson Day which was declined.
LHP Chris Michalak has been in 14 organizations (The Post) and plans to pitch until no team hire him. He gave up one hit and an unearned run over 2 innings yesterday.
Zimmerman and the team are working on a new contract. His contemporary, David Wright, is getting $55 million from the Mets over six years.
