Broadway replaced by Young

1B Larry Broadway is back in minor league camp, replaced by Dimitri Young (The Post). Capital Punishment is unhappy with this move. Broadway probably missed his chance of seeing any MLB action with the Nationals.

P John Patterson is pleased (The Wash. Times) with how his spring is going, despite giving up three runs in yesterday’s 3-1 loss (ESPN Boxscore) to the Marlins. He threw 57 pitches in three innings. Next time, he plans on throwing 85.

Saturday, the Nats got a big victory (ESPN Boxscore) over the Mets split squad in Port St. Lucie. Chris Snelling had a strong game and is pushing (The Post) Ryan Church for the LF job.

Like half the Nats, this spring represents the last, best chance (The Post) for P Jerome Williams to be a major leaguer. He is making the case (The Wash. Times) to be the fifth starter for the Nationals. Patterson, Shawn Hill, Jason Simontacchi and Matt Chico would be 80% of the rotation if the season started today.

Despite being heavily subsidized by Washington, Peter Angelo$ continues to scapegoat (The Post) the Nats for his franchises nine consecutive losing seasons. Unconfirmed reports indicate the Balmer owner also blamed the Nats for giving Jeffrey Maier a ticket to the 1996 playoffs, Jim Palmer’s failed comeback and the Colts moving in 1984. By the way, none of his network’s baseball telecasts will be in HD this year.
