PennDOT considers opening part of I-99 – CDT
The portion of interstate 99 between Bald Eagle and Skytop is scheduled to be completed in October of this year, while the Skytop to Grays Woods portion appears to be delayed until late 2008.
PennDOT had been planning on opening the Bald Eagle to Grays Woods section all at once, but is now thinking of constructing temporary ramps at Skytop to connect the new road to the current US 322 as an interim measure. The upside of this is it would bypass Port Matilda and the poorly designed intersection/traffic light with US 220 and US 322. The downside is it would add higher costs to a project that is already over budget.
