I don’t have much hope for tonight’s Capitals vs. Pengyunz game. The Caps are simply too young and too hurt for me to get too excited about their prospects of winning. The flightless birds on the other hand have finally gotten all of their high draft picks (earned by half a decade of futility and the NHL rigging the draft) to play well and could clinch a playoff birth with a win and an Islanders loss. So, why get excited? The answer is simple BROOMBALL.
Every season, the local Penn State Alumni chapter takes on the Temple West Pitt alumni in a game of broomball. Apparently, at one time Pitt was considered a serious rival. Generally, my feeling to this non-rivalry is “meh” — they need us more than we need them, but tonight is an exception. I have been able to play in the last two matches (scoring both times) and am scheduled to tonight as well. I’m “wearing the C” too. So if you are a Penn Stater going to the game tonight, stick around afterwards and cheer us on.
