Winning or losing a series is a fine line sometimes. On Friday night behind a strong Matt Chico outing, the Nats defeated the Mets 4-3 (The Post). RF Austin Kearns homered in the first to end the scoreless first inning streak.
On Saturday night Jerome Williams allowed only one hit over six innings befone leaving in the 7th with a sprained ankle (The Post). He is on the way to the DL. Leading 2-1 going into the ninth, Chad Cordero had a chance to get his third save in row, but allowed Shawn Green on. Inning-Endy Chavez pinch ran, scoring on a Julio Franco single to tie the game. In the 12th inning, the Mets exploded for four runs to put the Nats away.
Yesterday, Carlos Beltran homered and nobody else scored. The Mets only got three hits (The Post). Jason Bergmann gets the loss. Tough break.
