MILWAUKEE 3 Washington 0 (ESPN Boxscore)
First things first, that sure looked like Steve Martin getting a foul ball in the early part of the game. I wonder why he was in Wisconsin.
Matt Chico gave the Nats a quality start, allowing three runs over seven innings. Unfortunately for Washington, Chris Capuano was even better, striking out nine over eight innings and not giving up a run.
Those three runs came in one swing of Geoff Jenkins bat in the second inning.
The hot dog won the sausage race.

Linton Weeks of the Post Style section wonders if Washington will learn to “love a bunch of baseball losers.” It is a good question, one that I am not qualified to answer because I am one of those suckers who is just so happy to have a team. Phil Wood also has a column on the subject in The Wash. Examiner.
Jason Simontacchi is scheduled (The Post) to start tonight, his first since 2003 and first MLB appearance since 2004 (The Wash. Times). He started the season on the DL and had two strong rehab starts in Columbus. Page 2 of the story informs us that the new ballpark will have the second largest video screen in the majors.
If you believe today’s Wash. Times Nationals Report, Wisconsin has Brewers Fever. Funny, I could have sworn the announced attendance was around 17,000+.
For some reason, the game is on MASN 2 tonight.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention Don Sutton’s unusual joke last night:
“Teddy [Roosevelt] couldn’t outrun Larry Flynt.”
Distinguished Senators reminded me of it. I knew I had forgotten something. Someday I’ll write about the time I met Larry Flynt.
Maybe Sutton will make this part of his schtick. “Teddy couldn’t outrun Franklin.”
