There are three notable injuries right now:

• 1B Dimitri Young was out with a bruised heal last night. GM Jim Bowden said if the Nats were in a playoff race he would play because it is just that minor.
• P Jason Simontacchi is on the DL retroactive to whenever he missed his start. Tendonitis is the culprit.
• OF Alex Escobar won’t be coming up to the big leagues just yet because his shoulder is hurting him. And birds go tweat.
• At least Shawn Hill experienced no problems throwing 40 pitches in a recent session.

The Nats will not be televised (The Wash. Times) for the first time all year when they take the field at 3:55 this afternoon. They were scheduled to be on Rupert Murdoch’s FOX network, but got bumped for San Francisco at Milwaukee. Keeping the the Nats off TV is just another reason why Murdoch is a poor choice as owner of the Wall Street Journal.
