WASHINGTON 7 Cincinnati 3 (CBS Sportsline Boxscore)
On Walter Johnson Night, the Nats wore white caps with block W’s and red brims, so I have to wonder did Charlie Slowes say “a block W is in the books” at the end of the victory?
Ryan Zimmerman had another strong night at the plate, going 3 for 5 with 3 RBIs. His average is up to .265 and he has 56 RBIs on the season. As a team, the Nats hit six doubles last night and 14 for the series.
Mike Bacsik had a bad second inning, giving up three runs, all on homers. Other than that inning, he faced the minimum to earn his fifth win.

Nationals remain on winning track – The Wash. Times
John Patterson made an appearance (The Wash. Times) at RFK Stadium yesterday, back from his sojourn to the Great White North (The Post) for some hyperbaric treatments. He was um, descriptive when talking about it and whether he will pitch again this season:
“I really just have one comment,” Patterson told a group of reporters in the clubhouse at RFK Stadium. “And the comment is basically that I feel good. I feel great. It’s the best I’ve felt in about two years, and the treatment was a success. I have a throwing program that I’m following, and that’s the only comment I have.”
Okay, great.
There still isn’t a timetable for Nick Johnson’s return (The Wash. Times).
Alex Morales went from A-Potomac to AA-Harrisburg to AAA-Columbus to the DL to AA-Harrisburg (The Wash. Times) this season. He may show up in the majors this year too. Not bad for a guy who was drafted in the 46th round. More on pitching development.
Zimmerman talks about the trade deadline in today’s Wash. Examiner column.
Tonight, the Cardinals are in town (The Wash. Times) to begin a three game series. It turns out the World Champions forgot how to pitch. Both teams will be wearing Negro Leagues uniforms too. I’ll be there — will you?
