SAN FRANCISCO 3 Washington 2 (11 innings) (CBS Sportsline Boxscore)
Barry Bonds didn’t hit his 756th home run (The Post), but the Giants beat the Nats 3-2 in 12 innnings, wasting a strong effort by rookie John Lannan. 1B Dimitri Young put the Nats ahead with a homer in the 10th, but the Giants came back to tie the game in the bottom of the inning off of Chad Cordero and win it in the 11th. All good things must end I suppose. I’m mostly happy Lannan didn’t give up 756 becaue that was the last thing he needed.
Nats Let One Slip Away – The Post
Other side of history? – The Wash. Times
Nats broadcasters don’t have a specific call (The Wash. Times) in mind if and when Bonds hits a homer.
All this Bonds talk seems to be keeping actual Nationals news out of the papers.
