Nats lose 5-0; can tie series at 3:35 p.m.

The Nats only managed four hits last night and Dmitri Young had to be removed because of a tweak in his hamstring. He plans to resume playing tomorrow in Arizona. Matt Cain (6 IP) earned the victory for the Giants, while Tim Redding picked up the loss for the Nats. If you care, Barry Bonds homered (The Wash. Times).

Shawn Hill is scheduled to rejoin the rotation next week, so someone will have to be sent down (The Post). I’d send John Lannan to AAA and let him continue pitching there, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Mike Bacsik draws the short straw. Of course, the way things have gone for the Nationals this season, someone will probably get hurt. I’ll say it’ll be Matt Chico.

The Nationals were part of history (The Wash. Times) on Tuesday night, blah, blah, blah.

Bacsik has handled his place in history (nationals.com) well so far. I guess he’ll be saying “four minutes to eight now.”

I couldn’t find Jim Bowden’s column.
