Nats split series with Giants

Washington 3 SAN FRANCISCO 1 (CBS Sportsline Boxscore)

Rookie Joel Hanrahan pitched in and out of trouble for 5 1/3 innings, but only gave up a single run. The busiest bullpen in the National League came through again and held the opposition scoreless. Jon Rauch pitched well, getting out of the the eighth with the tying run on base. He got a little-known leftfielder to pop up and caught Pedro Feliz asleep at first base and picked him off after faking to third. The radio guys were quite excited “that never works!” Saul Rivera also got a crucial double-play in the sixth after Hanrahan and Ray King had put two runners on with one out. Manny Acta said that was the key to the game.

The resurgent Felipe Lopez hit a two run homer in fifth to give the Nats the 3-1 lead. Hanrahan scored on the homer after doubling. The rookie pitcher has 3 extra base hits in 3 outings (The Post).

The first Nats run was scored by Ryan Zimmerman, who was sacrificed home by Ronnie Belliard with the bases loaded.

Ownership needs to put its money where its mouth is when it comes to funding the ballpark, according to The Wash. Times. The team has only contributed only $8 million of the $50 million they said they would. So, I ask is this a smart way of doing things given the acrimony of the ballpark process?

Speaking of the ballpark, who do you think will acquire the naming rights?
