#10 Penn State Nittany Lions vs. Michigan Wolverines

LAST WEEK

Penn State started slowly, dominated for the middle of the game and got sloppy in the fourth quarter with the second team defense. Buffalo is the best team Penn State has faced thus far. Final Score: Penn State 45 Buffalo 24.

THIS WEEK’S OPPONENT: MICHIGAN WOLVERINES

The Wolverines embarrassed themselves and their conference by losing to I-AA Appalachian State to open the season. While I enjoyed that, I didn’t get too into it because when your team has lost eight in a row, you really can’t make fun, can you?

Seemingly still in shock, Michigan lost to Oregon the following week, failing to contain Oregon’s mobile quarterback. Last week, Notre Dame was scheduled, so it was obviously a victory for the Wolverines.

I’ll try to keep my reasons for wanting this game badly succinct:

  • Michigan’s arrogance — Sure, they have the D-I all-time wins record, so you can imagine that must have a couple of handfuls of national titles right? The actual number: ½. By the way, Bringam Young has twice that many. Also, Bo Schembelcher was overrated. He may have won a lot of regular season games, but he stunk in January. That pushes him off the elite list to merely very good. By that definition, Lloyd Carr is a better coach.
  • Carr — He’s a jerk and a crybaby.
  • Penn State always loses to them — This obviously is the main reason. For a variety of reasons, Michigan has owned Penn State since my junior of college. Unbelievable when you think about it. They just always find a way to win. Even when they are bad, they seem to play their best games against Penn State while Penn State plays its worst. It is aggravating.

    Even with overrated QB Chad Henne likely to sit out, the Wolverines are dangerous. Michigan is scary right now because they have some good athletes and a great running back in Mike Hart. Since this is the start of the Big11Ten schedule, they still have something to play for this year.

    PREDICTIONS

    Penn State just can’t go over the hump and falls 22-20. Coaching is the biggest reason for the loss. I can’t help but think Paterno looks for reasons to lose rather than ways to win when playing on the road, especially at Michigan. He has the athletes to win, but I don’t think he can stomach the risk of using them anymore.

    It will be awful, but don’t worry, I won’t go emo on all of you are cry like a little girl and put up kitten photos if my prediction is right.

    GO STATE, BEAT MICHIGAN!
