Caroll H. Cook (’54 Pitt) cashed in on his Penn State curse this past weekend when the Nittany Lions fell to Michigan. Will Beano continue to cash in this week?

SportsNation Beano Cook:(3:02 PM ET ) Good afternoon, I apologize for the 09-4 start. If you say I stink you would be kind. I will try to break the slump at the end of the chat. And I have no idea where Penn State’s offense is. That’s easy — the 1970s!

Matt (OK): So since Penn. State is no longer going to go to the National Champ. Game. Who you got now? Has to be Oklahoma right?

SportsNation Beano Cook: (3:30 PM ET ) Yes, I did pick Penn State to play LSU. If I have the choice of picking a replacement it would be Oklahoma. I think they have a better chance of going undefeated than USC does.

Ever since I first read this prediction in August, I knew doom was forthcoming.

kBoan (Ann Arbor): Hart for Heisman! How is he not getting more love?

SportsNation Beano Cook:(3:13 PM ET ) Appalachian St. 44 Michigan 42. That is the reason. I am not saying it is fair, but that is the main reason. But his performance against Penn State would make Superman envious.

However, the most exciting player in all of football college or pro is Tebow! The fact that he is a sophomore should not be a factor in the Heisman race, if he continues to play the way he has.

Why would it make Superman envious? Hart obviously was the player of the game, but he averaged less than 4 yards a carry and frequently got tackled behind the line. The ineffective Penn State offense had more to do with his big yards than anything else.

Darren, Calgary, Canada: Beano, I’m taking Illinois over Penn St. straight up. What do you think?

SportsNation Beano Cook:(3:44 PM ET ) It is a good bet. We will find out if Penn St. has any character against a slight underdog. If Penn St. loses this game, Joe Paterno will face lots of criticism. That’s more like it, I like it when Beano isn’t on our side. Also, Paterno is facing lots of criticism already.

Now that is more like it, I like it when Beano isn’t on our side.

Brian (baltimore, MD): seeing as how you picked Penn State to be in the National Championship, I’m sure you watched the PSU vs UM game with great interest. Looking at this game, what would you attribute State’s loss to more – poor performance by the offensive players (specifically Morelli and the RB’s), or a poor offensive gameplan/playcalling?

SportsNation Beano Cook:(3:53 PM ET ) I would say from the people I talked to it was a poor game plan. It does not mean that they would have won with a different game plan. But most people thought the game plan was pre-1940 football. The only thing missing was the single wing.

I hate it when he is right.
