I’m playing with my BloggerTM template to see if I can improve the search engine optimization. BloggerTM is not nearly as robust for people who FTP their content to their own domains as it is for people using blogspotTM. I’m trying to overcome that by moving my title and META=keywords tags out of the head and into the body of the document after the Blogger tag. This isn’t an according-to-Hoyle-way to layout HTML, but if I can provide this blog with better SEO, I can live with bending a few rules.
So far, this appears to put the title of the post in the title field which was my intention. The downside is the title of the most recent post will be added to the title on the main page, but I can live with that happening.
If any of the 6% of Macs users or 1% of Linux users who visit could verify that the site looks fine in their browsers, I’d appreciate it. I have tested it with Firefox and IE on my Wintel machine and it seems to work. If I don’t encounter any problems and Google and Yahoo index the site properly, I’ll describe in detail what I did to make it happen.
