GM George McPhee is looking pretty shrewd these days. Sure, picking Alex Ovechkin with the #1 pick was a no-brainer, but getting guys like Chris Clark (sadly, injured), Milan Juricina for throwaway draft picks looks pretty sharp. The early returns on this year’s trade deadline deals are pretty strong as well with Cristobal Huet, Sergei Federov and Matt Cooke being important contributors.
