Free Learn to Play Broomball October 25, 2025 at Tucker Road Ice Rink

District Broomball is hosting a free Learn to Play Broomball event on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 9 p.m.

It’s the same basic rules as hockey, tactics and strategy, but in special shoes instead of skates. The stick is a “broom” and the puck is a ball about the size of a grapefruit.

District Broomball teams face off in autumn 2024 at Tucker Road Ice Rink near Washington, D.C.

I’ve been in the league since 2017 and really enjoyed myself. We’re a competitive group, but collegial – not a lot of redasses historically. It’s also co-rec and players range in age from 18 to 60+.

Location

Tucker Road Ice Rink, reopened in 2021, is located just minutes from the Capital Beltway (I-95/495) and the Wilson Bridge. Parking is plentiful and car pools are often available.

Thanksgiving weekend tournament expected

District Broomball is working with another local rink for a half-ice tournament the weekend after Thanksgiving. Details will be shared when available.
