2014 Metro station tally (retconned)

Court House metro station electric signs showing first outbound Silver Line on July 26, 2014

Twenty-fourteen was the first year I became a daily Metro commuter. I had been working in Tysons for most of my career. I would occasionally use the 8W/8Z to Pentagon to Rosslyn to West Falls Church to Jones Branch Drive on the Fairfax Connector because I was so sick of driving from Alexandria to Tysons. That was 67 minutes on a good day.

My new job was in Arlington, near Courthouse Metro. I was pretty excited to be a regular Metro rider and started informally keeping track of the stations I visited.

By October, I changed jobs again with NoMa being the closest station to work. That was a pretty good commute – on Friday mornings, I would sometimes get from my bus stop on North Van Dorn Street to the NoMa station in 27 minutes. That was almost certainly faster than driving.

* First ever visit

Welcome to your Silver Line station sign. This Metro line opened in July 2014.

In addition to becoming a regular commuter, my family and I welcomed the Silver Line opening on July 26. It was also my one-month old son’s first Metro ride. This was the second time I attended an opening of a Metro extension – I was the Orange Line to Vienna in 1986.
