RHP Shawn Hill pitched seven effective innings and the Nats scored four runs during the span. Three Luis Ayala pitches into the eighth and it was all gone — Ayala failed to cover first in time after 1B Aaron Boone had trouble fielding Alfredo Amézaga’s hard line drive and the next batter, Jeremy Hermida homered. Later in the inning, Dan Uggla hit a solo shot, his second homer of the game and seventh in nine games, increasing the Marlins lead 5-4. The score would stay that way, completing a Marlins sweep. Somehow, the Fish have the best record in baseball right now.
