Caps’ Ovechkin Wins MVP; Boudreau Is Coach of Year – The Post
An awarding evening – The Wash. Times
Alex Ovechkin swept the NHL awards last night, taking home the Hart Trophy and Lester B. Pearson Award. He had already clinched the Art Ross and Maurice “Rocket” Richard trophies for leading the league in points and goals, respectively. No player had ever swept all four awards in one season.
Bruce Boudreau also won the Jack Adams award for coach of the year after rallying the Caps back from 6-14-1 on Thanksgiving to a division title.
These trophies are great and a vindication for Ted Leonsis rebuilding the team the way he did, but the job is not done. Ovechkin, Boudreau and Leonsis all acknowledge this — the job is done when the Stanley Cup is in their hands.
