Charlie Jones, long-time play-by-play voice has died. Though he was perhaps best known for being on NBC NFL telecasts (always seemed to a be Raiders or Chargers home game) he had the honor of broadcasting the highest rated college football game ever, the 1987 Fiesta Bowl.

And there it is, its official. The Penn State Nittany Lions are the National Champions. John Shafer’s record as a starting quarterback since the seventh grade is now 66-1.
I propose a bourbon toast, Penn State victory-style, to Jones. Thank you sir, you call is etched in the memory of Penn Staters.
