Posluszny: Heart of defensePatriot-News
PSU linebacker central to a guarded optimism about upcoming season
So far, LB Paul Posluszny appears to be a prototypical Penn State linebacker. Team him with Dan Connor and it feels Linebacker U. is back. Both will probably be captains during their senior years.

Penn State’s Robinson has home at QBThe Inky
This is not really news, we knew that Michael Robinson would get the job over Anthony Morelli. Even though Morelli makes more sense behind center for a number of reasons (arm strength, chance to be a three year starter, etc.) I am rooting for Robinson. In fact, I hope he does so well that he only has to play the first half because we are winning by four touchdowns and Morelli can get some snaps. I think the fact that this sort of thing has not happened much since the mid-90s is a big part of the QB development problems. It used to be that the Lions would not lose much when a QB graduated because the successor had seen a lot of playing time after the team went up big in the first half. This goes for other positions too.

PROFESSOR ZPatriot-News
When was the last time Penn State had a shutdown corner like Alan Zemaitis? Never. Thankfully, he did not go pro, though he apparently could have if he had wanted.

Student season tickets going on sale soonCDT
They cost $159! That is almost $23 a ticket! Ten years ago, when I was a frosh, it was $12 a game. The alumni seats probably went up by $2 this year. Is this sustainable with the mediocre product the we have had the last few years?

Blue Band leader to flip for one more yearCDT
I did not know the drum major’s name last year and that is usually a good thing. Knowing his name usually means he is not landing his flips.

The real issue is whether we will have a Blue Sapphire again. After five years of world champion BOBBIE JO Solomon, there was none last year. Perhaps with a year in between, the slippers will not be as intimidating to fill.
