A sweet deal for Caps: Minor league affiliation with HersheyThe Wash. Times
The legendary Hershey Bears are now part of the Washington Capitals system, making Pennsylvania’s Capital region home of two D.C. farm teams.

This makes a lot of sense for the Capitals, since Hershey is a lot closer to D.C. than Portland, Maine. This also gives the Caps a foothold in southern Pennsylvania, which means that their market could (in theory) be from Richmond to Harrisburg, though I hardly expect folks up there to dump the Pengyunz and Flyers right away. I might have to catch a game up there sometime.

Also, with the Caps market now being Richmond to Harrisburg, it includes three state capitals (Richmond, Annapolis, and Harrisburg) and one nation’s capital — very appropriate given the team name.

Now, if we can only get the NHL playing again and keep the Nats in D.C., we will really be on to something.
