Maybin officially gone; Evans not far behind; surgery for Green

Maybin to enter draftThe Collegian
DE Aaron Maybin officially declared for the NFL Draft, ending his Penn State career. Two scouts are quoted as being skeptical of this move, a feeling I share.

Other Lions consider futureThe Collegian
We still do not know if Larry Johnson Sr. will accept the offer to become Illinois defensive coordinator, but could learn more today.

DE Maurice Evans, who was a preseason All-American, is leaning in the direction of declaring for the NFL Draft. I have gotten the impression Evans thinks he was not treated fairly this past season and just wants to get Penn State behind him. He was busted for being at a party that had weed. Perhaps he was not treated fairly, especially in light of Anthony Scirrotto‘s non-punishment, but Evans was should not have gotten himself in trouble in the first place.

Green to miss spring practiceThe Collegian
RB Stephfon Green will miss spring practice after surgery for a dislocated ankle, suffered late in the Rose Bowl. Green had a similar injury in high school.

RB Evan Royster, who suffered a knee injury early in the Rose Bowl, is not expected to miss spring practice.
