Nats Win, but Lose Guzman to Leg Injury – The Post
Another day, another win, another injury. SS Cristian Guzman strained his hamstring and will be out for 5 to 7 days. That moves Jamey Carroll to shortstop with Carlos Baerga taking his place at second base. Also, 2B Jose Vidro went on the DL, opening a roster spot for P Tony Armas Jr., who will start tonight.
Last night’s win was the fifth of the road trip, clinching a winning record out west and putting the Nats four games over .500.
¡LIVAN! got through 7 innings giving up 3 runs. He had six walks, but pitched well enough to win his fourth in a row (first time in three years) and get career win #100.
Lastly, Mayor Anthony Williams is now recommending the proposed deal with Deutsche Bank (with minor modifications of course) to the council, which is a much easier sell politically.

Vidro Is Placed On the DL – The Post
We already know about Vidro, but we also find out about four promotions and discounts for college students and government employees. I really wish my Penn State ID had not worn out…
Howard towered above D.C. – The Arizona Republic
Another article on Frank Howard. I am pretty sure I saw him in front of the Armory the last time I went to RFK.
Thomas Boswell – Nationals Add Depth, Maintain Grit – The Post
Boz on the “overacheiving” Nats. He credits Jim Bowden. If the team keeps it up into September, I might too.
