At first glance, this headline makes you scatch your head and wonder what Bos is thinking by suggesting the Nationals not draft uber pitching prospect Stephen Strasburg of San Diego State with the #1 pick in the amateur draft. Rumors over the weekend that Strasburg’s agent Scott Boras would demand a $50 million contract have prompted this column. Yes, that is a lot of money an ultimately, it could be highly inflated, but Boras has made himself pretty successful getting huge contracts for his clients.

Boswell makes some decent arguments against spending that kind of crazy money on Strasburg that could be summed up by “lie down until the urge goes away.” He might have a point there, but if I had the #1 pick today, I’d draft Strasburg.
