Zimmerman’s Hit Streak Ends, but Nats Get Win – The Post
3B Ryan Zimmerman‘s 30 game hitting streak ended in San Francisco yesterday:
In the seventh inning, with the Nationals rallying and Zimmerman still hitless, Giants Manager Bruce Bochy chose to intentionally walk the 24-year-old third baseman. The move backfired: Elijah Dukes drove in two runs with a broken-bat single, the key hit in the Nationals’ 6-3 win over San Francisco.
I had a feeling it was not going to last. It was just starting to get noticed and the luck of this franchise is that when something good is noticed nationally, it ends abruptly. Also, this was the last game of the road trip and the prospect of him coming home streak intact seemed too good to be true.
As great as the streak was, the Nats were only 10-19 during it. I’m happy for Zimmerman and the team, but ultimately they need wins more than streaks.

Martis Haunts Ex-Team, Improves Record to 5-0 – The Post
That Shairon Martis for Mike Stanton trade is looking pretty good now. Hard to believe, but this was actually good move by Jim Bowden. Martis is now 5-0, accounting for 44.4% of Washington’s wins this season.

This headline is incorrect. The copyeditor should have written “dartboard.”
Off day for the Nats as they come back east, then a four game series with the Phillies.
