On Sunday, during a Nats event at the Smithsonian, GM Mike Rizzo said Stephen Strasburg, the consensus Nats draft pick, would not pitch in D.C. this year (MissChatter tweeted it). Why is that? Are you not going to sign him Rizzo? In all seriousness, I think Rizzo was just trying to manage expectations. Should the Nats draft and sign Rizzo, I fully expect he will pitch in at least one Nationals game this year. Possibly out of the bullpen in September.
It is a pretty good time to be Stephen Strasburg. It is an even better time to be Scott Boras, his agent.
