Penn State Announces Contract Extension For DeChellis – Intercollegiate Athletics
Coming off a NIT title (you can’t spell Nittany without N-I-T!) Ed DeChellis enters his eighth season with a three-year contract extension. Penn State rewarded his first winning Big Ten campaign and NIT championship with a contract extension that goes through 2014.

Jones sees this two ways — the bar is set really low at Penn State when it comes to men’s basketball, but also that other programs would probably not reward such an admirable man for being who he is and not just what he has won.
Given Penn State’s attitude towards basketball or maybe, more tellingly, reluctance to spend a lot of money, DeChellis appears to be the right man for the job. I hope he gets the Nittany Lions to the next level so that we can move away from “you can’t spell extension without N-I-T” as some of Rice’s friends say.
