51 DAYS UNTIL PENN STATE’S HOME OPENER

Forgive me if I am being sacrilegious, but with baseball back in D.C., my longing for Penn State football is not as intense this year. Don’t worry, I am still planning on having the same enthusiasm that I always do, it will just start later.

Anyway, there are few things going on in the Nittany Nation. QB Michael Robinson is motivated by doubters in pre-season publications (CDT), while CB Alan Zemaitis does not even read them.

Former QB Zack Mills spent a few days in the World Series of Poker, which got him these two articles in the Collegian. A few weeks ago, YDR reported he “just wants another shot.”

Locally, the Metro Washington Chapter of Penn State Alumni Association is hosting the voice of Penn State, Steve Jones at Crystal City Sports Pub on August 23. It costs $15 in advance or $20 at the door. You can pay for it online this year too! This is a really fun event and a great way to get psyched for the upcoming football season. There is some food too, so you get something for your money other than just the meet n’ greet with a Penn State celebrity.

Prior to previous seasons, Phil Grosz had been appearing at this function. I do not know why he will not be making it this year, but I think that the organizer Maryanne (who is rather ubiquitous, by the way) found a great choice. Also, I will be happy to entertain any questions in my best Phil voice, to help mitigate the disappointment.
