Nats Get Win, and That Old Feeling – The Post
After getting roughed up for 2 runs in the first inning, ¡LIVAN! settled down and did not allow another run for the next seven innings. CF Preston “Nothin’ from Nothin’” Wilson did his part with the bat, hitting two dingers, including a questionable one (The Inky) in the third. A co-worker will certainly tell me what a great pickup he was, but I am still skeptical. I will take the homers though.
SS Cristian Guzman continued his awful ways by committing an error on an Inning-Endy Chavez grounder, with two outs, denying a chance for him to be Game-Endy. Philadelphia’s next batter drove a run in to make things a little interesting.
Last night’s win was important because tonight’s game features Ryan Drese starting for Washington, so we can expect the series to be tied tomorrow morning.
With the win, the Nats moved into second place in the Wild Card race, a game behind Houston. Despite what some people are saying, it is too early to say “it feels like June.”

NATIONALS NOTEBOOK – Minus Glove, Hernandez Wins Anyway – The Post
Remember when ¡DIVAn! replaced ¡LIVAN! in the #61 uniform and threw his equipment into the stands? The fan who caught it is holding out for season tickets next year, playoff tickets this year (if only) and $18,000. No one is biting.
Guillen plays despite elbow injury – The Wash. Times
In addition to his ailing shoulder, Jose Guillen is having problems with his elbow. That prompted an outfield realignment, with Guillen in left, Wilson in center, and Brad Wilkerson in right.
Also, Rick Short is having a dream season in AAA New Orleans, with a chance to hit .400. His defense is said to be a liability, but methinks it cannot be so bad that he would make 6 errors in 8 games.
Big walk-up, big letdown – Philly Daily News
Though the article does not say it, the Nats spoiled $1 dog night for thousands of walk-ups.
