Nittany Lions committed to getting more out of their special teams – CDT
The only things Penn State got out of special teams last year were Scott Paxson’s 5 blocked field goals and decent punting from Jeremy Kaponis. Having somebody other than Calvin Lowry return punts is probably the best thing they can do. Frosh Derrick Williams is expected to get a shot. Paxson may not get his though, due to offseason problems off the field.
Beefed-up Shaw set to make impact – Patriot-News
Jim Shaw, a Rice transfer, has gotten bigger and may get to play a lot more with Paxson in the doghouse. His brother, OL John has also hit the buffets and gotten bigger. Paterno cited both of them in the press conference as players he liked.

Moody is critical of Paterno for consistently mentioning that the 2002 squad could have been champions if there had been instant replay.
