State College Hooters closes, will reopen as Kildare’s Irish Pub – CDT
One of the main gateways to State College just got less tacky. The Hooters on College Ave. right after University Drive is closed. I never made it up there or any other Hooters. People love the wings though!

A chain faux Irish pub called Kildare’s will replace it. What will we do without that tacky orange building greeting us as we head into downtown?

Before that spot was Hooters, it Pennsylvanina Pizza/John Henry’s. I think John Henry’s tried to be like Hooters, but didn’t have the “cachet” so the waitresses generally wore less revealing attire. I used to go there with a friend because it was right across from her apartment in Gateway which is now called Meridian. I think we were wearing onions on our belts at the time…
