NATS ALMOST COME BACK; WHY DOES TONY TAVARES HATE FREEDOM?

Nats’ Comeback Is Spoiled in 10thThe Post
P Tony Armas, who has about 32 days left in a Nats uniform, gave up 7 runs in four innings. The day we stop seeing him with the curly “W” hat will be a grand one.

Despite Armas’ performance, the Nats came back and tied it up. 3B Vinny Castilla had a 4 RBI performance with top pick Dutch Zimmerman (1 AB, 1K) waiting in the wings. The bullpen went five scoreless innings before Andruw Jones hit one out off Luis Alaya in the 10th. This one is not on Alaya, it is on Armas.

The Nats may be three games out, but they go head to head with the wild card leader, Philadelphia this weekend, then Florida and the Mets. They still control their own destiny to a large degree.

Zimmerman Heads Nats’ AdditionsThe Post
Dutch is here, as is Kenny Kelly, Brandon Watson and Rick Short. HOWEVER, team president Tony Tavares is not letting the Nats call up all the players they could for financial reasons, which happened during the Expos 2003 playoff run. This has occurred despite higher than expected revenues. BOOOOOOOOOOOO!
