Source: Sosa would rather retire than ‘beg for a spot’ – ESPN.com
Dear Sammy,
Just the thought of you begging for a spot on my Washington Nationals makes me sad. After all, no one hit 60 homers more often than you did. You don’t need to be validated by someone like Jim Bowden. You are too good for him and our old, rickety ballpark. It is time to leave the game that you have treated so well, on your terms.
Sincerely,
William
Wait a minute, I don’t mean that at all. Signing Sosa would make me very, very mad. The guy has so much baggage now it is like the scene in Spaceballs when they are walking through the desert with “her royal highness’ luggage.” Funny perhaps, but ultimately just a gag that fills time in the plot. You remember what happened to that luggage, don’t you Sammy?

Does anybody care that some members of the D.C. Council may have some political fallout from their vote on the ballpark lease? Nope, didn’t think so.
