In addition to signing Bryce Harper, the Washington Nationals inked deals with 25 of the 26 draft picks. The one they did not sign had a shoulder injury. We are supposed to be excited about A.J. Cole, Sammy Solis and Robbie Ray. I am eager to see what natsfarm.com has to say about the draft.
The Nats spent a lot on bonuses according to FJB. The “Lerners are cheap” bandwagon is an Adam Dunn signing away from being scrapped for parts.
In addition to praising Harper, Keith Law of ESPN says the Nats did well with this draft:

There continues to be concerns that Harper (Yahoo! Sports) has attitude problems (ESPN) and that maybe a $9.9 million contract won’t help matters. Truthfully, I think he’ll be okay early in his career because oddly enough, I trust Scott Boras to reign in his client enough to be palatable to his teammates and others. Weird thinking, but Boras knows the real payday was not last night, but years down the road, provided Harper can meet his potential. By then, Harper will be much older and probably more mature. The minor leagues can humble anybody.
